In Hollywood, a first anniversary is something to celebrate. So on the occasion of Hilary Duff’s wedding, it seems only fitting to take a look back to remember that spectacular wedding, one of the classiest and most beautiful Hollywood weddings in years.
It all started with the engagement ring. Pro hockey player Mike Comrie surprised the actress and former teen star at the Four Seasons Hotel in Maui, Hawaii, with a 14-carat princess cut diamond worth a reported $1 million! After all, as a center for the Edmonton Oilers, Comrie knows a little something about ice! And although Comrie no doubts pulls in a nice paycheck for his hockey playing, he is also the heir to a Canadian furniture company. Duff wore the spectacular engagement ring solo for only seven months until it was joined with a wedding band at her August wedding last year.
Clad in a stunning Vera Wang gown, with her hair pulled into an elegant and on-trend bun, Hilary Duff wed Mike Comrie at a private home in Santa Barbara. Surrounding the happy couple were a small group of their closest family and friends, including Duff’s sister Haylie, who was the maid of honor. Duff’s dress, a unique combination of body-conscious modern glamour and classic princess bride, has since been imitated by brides around the world. The narrow, slim-fitting silhouette gives way to a cascade of soft tulle at the very bottom of the dress. The bride complemented the dramatic dress with an equally eye-catching hairstyle, simple drop earrings and of course, the attention-grabbing diamond engagement ring.
As Duff confessed to Ellen Degeneres a few months after the wedding, the big day nearly met with a bridal-beauty disaster. On the morning of the wedding, one of Duff’s teeth fell out. Worried that all her wedding pictures would be marred by a gap-toothed grin, Duff hurried to a dentist for an emergency procedure.
And although the former child star is only 22 years old, and her new husband only 29, the couple has just announced that they are expecting their first child together. Although the busy young actress has plenty on her plate already—she has launched perfume and clothing lines, written books such as the NY Times bestselling Elixir, appeared on hit TV shows such as Gossip Girl and Community—motherhood will be the next role this talented young woman will tackle. In the meantime, she can practice by taking good care of her diamond engagement ring.
Dear The Whiteflash Sales Team,
I proposed this past weekend and it went great. She absolutely loves the Classic Tiffany Style Knife Edge Engagement Ring, I don’t think she’s taken her eyes off it for more than 5 minutes at a time since she got it.
Thanks!

Englandcan keep their princess and their royal wedding; we Americans just had our own royal wedding—the wedding of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries. The reality TV starlet and her basketball star fiancée tied the knot this past week, after a four month engagement. The dream wedding, held on a private estate in Montecito, California, was one of the most glamorous and star-studded wedding ceremonies seen in years, and was reported to have cost $10 million. Among the 440 guests wereHollywoodA-listers like Demi Lovato, Eva Longoria, Ryan Seacrest, and Lindsay Lohan.
The bride wore not one, but three, Vera Wang dresses to the day-long event. The first, an ivory princess gown with a full skirt and Chantillylace appliqué, was worn a Lorraine Schwartz diamond-embellished headpiece and a cathedral length veil. The glowing bride also wore a pair of diamond earrings to coordinate with her famous 20.5-carat diamond engagement ring. For the first dance, Kardashian reemerged in a mermaid dress embellished with a train of organza petals. Finally, the bride changed into a bias-cut satin dress with a circle skirt that was perfect for dancing the night away.
The groom, NJ Nets forward Kris Humphries, was equally decked out in a Ermenegildo Zegna tuxedo and bow tie, while Kim’s sisters Kourtney, Khloe, Kendall and Kylie all wore Vera Wang bridesmaids dresses.
Fans of the Kardashian Empire of reality shows have been eagerly awaiting the big wedding day, ever since Kim first showed off her stunning diamond engagement ring in May. The incredible diamond engagement ring, with a center stone of a 16.5 emerald cut diamond and two 2-carat trapezoids, is said to be worth $1 million. The diamond engagement ring soon became famous as one of the most expensive celebrity engagement rings of all time. True to her glitzy personality, Kim chose a wedding band that is equally as sparkly. The diamond wedding band Kris slipped on Kim’s finger at the ceremony was another Lorraine Schwartz design, a 12-carat eternity band said to be worth about $60,000.

When commoner Kate Middleton married Prince William of England on April 29, 2011, nearly 200 million people around the world tuned in or got online to watch the big moment. Why? None of these people knew Kate, and few had even ever seen Prince William or his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. So what got all these people from California to New Zealand to make the effort to watch the royal wedding, despite the difference in time zone?
There’s just something about royalty. It’s not just the lavish wedding—those can be found in the pages of People magazine any day of the week. It’s not just the girl-next-door good looks and impeccable fashion sense of the new Duchess Catherine of Cambridge. Although true royal power has almost disappeared from the modern world, every so often, a display of ceremony and tradition like the royal wedding reminds the world that the monarchy still has meaning.
It is this enduring power of the royal tradition that jewelry designer Vatche sought to capture in his popular Royal Crown engagement ring setting design. Like all Vatche diamond engagement rings, the Royal Crown is handcrafted of the highest quality materials, such as platinum and white gold, and is sold as an empty setting which can be set with the center stone of the customer’s choosing. All Vatche settings are designed by the famed jewelry designer himself in his Manhattan atelier.
The most recognizable symbol of royalty is the crown. Whether it is the delicate antique tiara that Kate wore on her wedding day, or the heavy, jewel-encrusted crowns of the medieval kings, the crown is the symbol of all the grace, elegance, and tradition that the royal family represents. Of all the Vatche jewelry in the collection, the D-Vatche Royal Crown best epitomizes this elegance and grace, with a simple, refined solid shank and a delicate twisted head. A ring this sumptuous needs no extra ornamentation—the six delicately curved prongs that grip the single perfect center stone are ornamentation enough. Like many Vatche rings, the Royal Crown tapers subtly from the top to the bottom, for a comfortable fit and elegant look. And unlike some other Vatche engagement rings, the Royal Crown is available in variations suitable for both round brilliant and princess-cut stones—perfect for the royal princess in your life.
Dear Whiteflash Sales Team
My experience with Whiteflash was exceptional! This was entirely due to Whiteflash walking me through the process of loose diamond selection and diamond ring setting. She helped me find exactly what I was looking for. Every step of the process was met with professional and helpful people. My cousin manages a jewelry store and I dropped by during a remount sale the day after my ring arrived. The visiting jeweler examined the ring and said the jeweler with Whiteflash did an outstanding job mounting the diamond. There is no doubt; I would buy from Whiteflash again.
Thank you,
Ann P.
